Aparna Mahadevan

Aparna joined the lab as a Research Associate in December 2019, after doing her postdoc in Dr Mark Kahn’s Lab (UPenn) where she investigated genetic pathways patterning fetal liver and bone marrow sinusoidal vasculature, critical for fetal hematopoiesis. Her foray into the field of vascular biology started during her PhD (Dr. Natasza Kurpios’ Lab at Cornell University), where she looked into how Pitx2, a key laterality gene drives asymmetric blood and lymphatic intestinal vasculature. Currently, in Dr. Macrae’s lab, she is interested in understanding cellular pathways and mechanisms that pattern cranial vessels during development and disease.
